David Nemo Knight
Organist

As organist and choral assistant at St Francis, my principal duties involve curating, preparing, and rendering music and accompaniments for Sunday morning services, as well as all other parish services such as Holy Days, memorials, and weddings. This involves 4 functions: 1) preparing accompaniments for hymns and service music, 2) preparing preludes and postludes appropriate to the liturgical calendar or season, 3) preparing accompaniments for and rehearsing all choir pieces, and 4) communicating with Dr. Bennett and/or Rev. Shelby regarding details of upcoming services and seasonal vision regarding music.
In addition to these principal duties, I also: supervise and coordinate the health and maintenance of our instruments (2 organs, 3 pianos); work with individual choir members as necessary regarding parts; run children’s music; and curate/render music for the monthly Taize service – including preparing and leading choir members who facilitate congregational singing of chants.
