Dragon Slayers (Grades 6-8)

Dragons Slayers is an interactive game by Joyce Denham that frames common youth challenges as “dragons” that must be slain – for example, the dragon “Avarus,” who makes us greedy and ask for more stuff, or “Golgoth,” who manifests when we feel rejected.

Dragon Slayers are taught how to use the “Ancient Manual” (the Bible) and build tools to combat dragons (e.g., “the Shield of Faith”). They also learn about previous Dragon Slayers such as Francis of Assisi or Jonah (who also had to fight a whale).

Dragon Slayers not only earn points for Dragon Slaying, but also for Service (e.g., helping with St. Luke’s Egg Boil), Studies (getting good grades at school), or Worship (acolyting with Renowned Dragon Slayer Rev. Jason Shelby or participating in the service in other ways, such as music or the Christmas pageant).

Dragon Slaying adventures will take place during regular church hours, Sundays 10AM-10.35AM, following a review of the weekly Youth Bulletin.
